Sat Spanks - Listen Carefully Little Mate

Happy Saturday! I'm jetting off down to London for a friend catch-up and I'm carrying on from my last snippet with a scene from Fevered Longings, the exciting conclusion of the Bride of Fire Series. You want to find out how Mira & Zorren's tale began? Start HERE.

His hand snuck under the fanciful net, fingers weaving through my thick hair to control my head. When I tried to turn away Zorren kept me anchored with the slightest tug. A clear message that he would not give me leave to hide from him

“Tell me what is wrong, Hellcat.” He coaxed, his soft voice curling around me as did the heat of his body. I hiccupped out, “You are facing challenges because of me.” Unconcerned, he shrugged, as if it was of no consequence. “I periodically face challenges, if it wasn’t about you it would be about something else.” Strong fingers caressed my damp cheek.

“It’s my fault, and I feel terrible you were hurt on my account.” I dabbed at my still leaking eyes, cursing my weakness.

He put his face right up next to mine, nose to nose. “I want you to listen very carefully, little mate, your conduct was commendable and your actions speak louder than words ever could.” Frustration welled up and I thumped the bed wishing I could hit Zorren instead and his infuriating logic.

“Yes, actions do speak louder than words,” I shouted at him. “And I hid behind you!”

Zorren’s brows winged into his hair and the air crackled between us. “Are you aiming for a spanking, Hellcat? Because you are fast heading for one.”

I pulled a face, flaring in a sudden fit of temper. “It would be better than coddling me.”

He nodded. “All right then.” Zorren’s good arm hooked under my body and with little effort flipped my body across his knees.

Already regretting my brash words, I squealed, “No, you muttonhead, I’ll hurt you!”

“Then I suggest that you don’t struggle,” Zorren suggested with absolute calmness above me, my skirts rustled against my bare skin and pooled in the hollow of my back. “Fortunately for you, it is my left shoulder that was wounded.” His palm rubbed brisk circles upon my trembling vulnerable cheeks. “Or should that be unfortunately for your bottom.” I could hear the smile in his voice. “Still feel it’s your fault?” Mangling my bottom lip, I wrapped my arms around a pillow and nodded. “Use your words, Hellcat,” he commanded. I shrank inside, the guilt eating me alive. “Yes,” I whined.

A little background with the blurb

When the gods breathed life into us, they blessed us with an element. Pity they didn’t care to bless us with anything else.

Mira had hoped she might find happiness in the arms of the Ice Lord. She was wrong. Political forces have driven them apart and the consequences are devastating for the fated mates. Despite all the past hurt and misunderstandings her fever for the infuriating man has not been extinguished, no matter how much she wished it.

Zorren never feared the cold until he’d tasted Mira’s warmth and passion. Mira is his and he is determined to claim her and restore her to her rightful place beside him: on the throne, in his life and in his bed. Now if only the little firebrand would cease her fruitless attempts to drive him away.

With rumblings in the South and conspiracy in the Iceari Court, Mira and Zorren need to present a united front more than ever. Are they brave enough to seize their second chance? Can they rebuild their trust and allow their love to blossom. Or will it be strangled by resentment and stubborn pride?
