Sat Spanks - I Defied you
Happy Saturday! I'm so excited I have a fabulous party planned and inner my hostess with the mostess is in raptures. It's time for a treat with out of my favourite scenes! You want to find out how Mira & Zorren's tale began? Start HERE.
““I’m not going back.” I flashed with false confidence. Frowning, Zorren leaned forward, the danger in the air thickening.
“If I so deemed it, I will tie you across the saddle of your horse and send you back under guard.”
“You can’t spare the men,” I pointed out smugly. He sucked in a breath, visibly trying to stay calm.
“No.” He did not get to throw that one at me. “You dictated, I’d never agreed to stay, I just stopped trying to convince you.” I’d done what I always did, clamped my mouth shut and got on and did what I wanted. Weighing up the consequences I judged them to be worth it. “I seriously considered staying,” I admitted, “and then I remembered.”
“Remembered what?” Zorren demanded shortly looking like he wanted to head-butt the nearest tree. My eyes narrowed and I drew myself up to my full and wholly insignificant height.
“I am not just the Ice Lord’s mate or your Consort.” I twisted my mouth in distaste; I was really beginning to despise that title. “I’m a Firelander Princess, daughter of a mighty Warlord and a Princess who defied an Emperor. I’ve been raised to lead armies on the front line of battle.” Zorren opened his mouth but I cut him off. “I will not be left behind; I will not allow anyone else to define me.” His jaw was hard and unyielding, I softened my stance my arms hugging my middle and whispered, “Not even you.” I rallied again, dropping my arms and thrusting my shoulders back, my chin jutting up. “I defied you and I will accept the consequences.”
“Oh you will, will you?” Zorren chuckled darkly, my stomach doing cartwheels. It was not a comforting sound.I glared at the interruption.
“But I am not wrong and I would do the same thing again. You send me back and all I will do is follow you again.” Zorren’s head cocked to one side, uncrossing his ankles.
“So you accept the consequences of your actions?” I raised my chin another notch with a bravery I didn’t feel.
He crooked a finger at me. “Then come here and show me how well you accept those consequences.” The blue fire in his eyes dared me to back up my word.
A little background with the blurb
When the gods breathed life into us, they blessed us with an element. Pity they didn’t care to bless us with anything else.
Mira had hoped she might find happiness in the arms of the Ice Lord. She was wrong. Political forces have driven them apart and the consequences are devastating for the fated mates. Despite all the past hurt and misunderstandings her fever for the infuriating man has not been extinguished, no matter how much she wished it.
Zorren never feared the cold until he’d tasted Mira’s warmth and passion. Mira is his and he is determined to claim her and restore her to her rightful place beside him: on the throne, in his life and in his bed. Now if only the little firebrand would cease her fruitless attempts to drive him away.
With rumblings in the South and conspiracy in the Iceari Court, Mira and Zorren need to present a united front more than ever. Are they brave enough to seize their second chance? Can they rebuild their trust and allow their love to blossom. Or will it be strangled by resentment and stubborn pride?
